Optimum integration of latent heat storage in a solar thermal system for industrial processes: in series or in parallel?

Solar thermal energy holds great potential in decarbonizing the process industry to achieve net-zero emissions. This study focuses on analyzing optimum integration of latent storage solar heating and cooling for an industrial process, by comparing two configurations. Configuration 1 connects (TES) parallel with collector allowing outlet stream be directed either TES or process. 2 series ensuring that always passes through before reaching The system also includes a rotary Fresnel supplies dairy factory. configurations are evaluated dynamic simulations including transients such as clouds start-ups. findings reveal layout needs more components same controllability supply level layout. Consequently, incurs higher cost complex operation. Considering objective finding cost-effective straightforward solution sector, concludes connecting represents optimal configuration.
